God – A composer and conductor

.

INTRODUCTION

At Catholic Mass,  July 25 John 6,1-15 is read. it is about the sharing of bread miracle.
After that miracle, the people said “This is truly the prophet who comes into the world.”. There were so many prophets around at Jesus’ time so a miracle was proof for many that this is a sign that this prophet is sent from God.

Jesus said once
according to Matthew 11:15 and Luke 8:21:

“He who has ears to hear, let him hear!”
Unless you see signs and wonders,
you will in no way believe.” (according to John 4:48)
An evil and adulterous generation seeks after a sign, and there will be no sign given to it, except the sign of the prophet Jonah.”(according to Matthew 16:4)

I have two questions in this post:

  1. Is there a way to explain this miracle with todays knowledge about physics?
  2. Do you still need miracles to believe in Jesus?

.John 6,1-15 says:

6:1 After these things, Jesus went away to the other side of the sea of Galilee, which is also called the Sea of Tiberias.
6:2 A great
multitude followed him because they saw his signs which he did on those who were sick.
6:3 Jesus went up into the mountain.
and he sat there with his disciples.
6:4 Now
the Passover, the feast of the Jews, was at hand.
6:5 Jesus therefore lifting up his
eyes, and seeing that a great multitude wascoming to him, said to Philip, “Where are we to buy bread, that these may eat?”
6:6 This he said to test him, for he himself knew what he would do.
6:7 Philip answered him, “Two hundred denarii worth of bread is not sufficient for them, that every one of them may receive a little.”
6:8 One of his disciples, Andrew, Simon Peter’s brother, said to him,
6:9 “There is a
boy here who has five barley loaves and two fish, but what are these among so many?”
6:10 Jesus said, “Have the people sit down.” Now there was much grass in that place. So the men sat down, in number about five thousand.
6:11 Jesus took the
loaves, and having given thanks, he distributed to the disciples, and the disciples to those who were sitting down; likewise also of the fish as much as they desired.
6:12 When they were filled, he said to his disciples, “Gather up the broken pieces which are left over, that nothing be lost.”
6:13 So they gathered them up and filled twelve baskets with broken pieces from the five barley loaves, which were left over by those who had eaten.
6:14 When therefore
the people saw the sign which Jesus did, they said, “This is truly the prophet who comes into the world.”
6:15 Jesus therefore,
perceiving that they were about to come and take him by force, to make him king, withdrew again to the mountain by himself.

The message

6:13 So they gathered them up and filled twelve baskets with broken pieces from the five barley loaves, which were left over by those who had eaten.

There are more incredible miracles than this one. The most incredible one was the creation of Jesus with only half of the DNA set (the female set given by Mary) set up. But this miracle story made me review my page about God. As I have learned more about the string theory I decided to leave this rather trivial title with its abused name “Quantum” for a more content-rich title “God- the string orchestra director”

The Pope Francis said The multiplication is not the biggest miracle. The biggest miracle is the sharing of the bread and fish by the boy.

6:9 “There is a boy here who has five barley loaves and two fish, but what are these among so many?”

conclusion

Listening to Pope Francis, I understand that our focus reading about the miracles is often wrong. We must look at the underlying message, today, about the sharing of the boy. We must understand the effects of sharing that are miraculous.

I focused anyway on the multiplication miracle and came back thinking about the nature of  God.

Inspired by scene in Mark 04:03:
“Listen! Behold, the farmer went out to sow, and it happened, as he sowed, some seed fell by the road, and the birds came and devoured it. Others fell …

I came up with a  new idea of God that can be described by this phrase:

“The gardener  wants the plants to share their beauty, fruits and seeds.”
