February 21, 2021 Mark 1,12-15 is read. Jesus went to the desert. Noone was with him. How could anyone tell about the experiences of Jesus had in the desert? Did Jesus told thereafter about his victorious fight with the devil. I am doubtful. Jesus was not a bragger.
Mark is however not sharing all the fantastic details shared by the other evangelists.
I like the interpretation of the text made by Pope Francis.

Mark 1,12-15 says:
1:12 Immediately the Spirit drove him out into the wilderness.
1:13 He was there in the wilderness forty days tempted by Satan. He was with the wild animals; and the angels were serving him.
1:14 Now after John was taken into custody, Jesus came into Galilee, preaching the Good News of the Kingdom of God,
1:15 and saying,“The time is fulfilled, and the Kingdom of God is at hand! Repent, and believe in the Good News.”
A Italian nun saif that “Desert” in Hebrew is מִדבָּר “debir”. This word is very similar to “dabar. I have not been able to confirm that.
I like the interpretation of Pope Francis.
Pope Francis emphasizes the value of solitude and silence. A opportunity to talk with God. I would add that it is an opportunity to talk with anyone, God, Jesus, Mary, Joseph or friends and relative who have left their bodies on earth. We must not be afraid to listen to our inner voice. We have an innate capacity to distinguish between evil and good voices and choose to follow Jesus commandments of love.
