Kerygma – parable 3 – to be humble

  1. .

INTRODUCTION

Just a little time after the fall of Salvini  and more recenly the desperate prayers of di Maio to remain deputy, we read today at Mass  a good lesson that they probably have never read.

di Maio should read Luke 14:8 that give this good advice of Jesus:

“When you are invited by anyone to a marriage feast, don’t sit in the best seat, since perhaps someone more honorable or a bit more than a bushel han you might be invited by him, and he who invited both of you would come and tell you, ‘Make room for this person.’ Then you would begin, with shame, to take the lowest place. “

To not stay deputy, would be a humiliation Maio said a few days ago.

“For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled”

The parable

Luke 14:08-11 says: “When you are invited by anyone to a marriage feast, don’t sit in the best seat, since perhaps someone more honorable or a bit more than a bushel han you might be invited by him, and he who invited both of you would come and tell you, ‘Make room for this person.’ Then you would begin, with shame, to take the lowest place. But when you are invited, go and sit in the lowest place, so that when he who invited you comes, he may tell you, ‘Friend, move up higher.’ Then you will be honored in the presence of all who sit at the table with you. For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, and whoever humbles himself will be exalted.”

The message

Jesus obviously talked about our next life when he said. “For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled” or even worse.  Jesus tells according to  Luke 16:19  ” about the rich man that asks to  “send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue! For I am in anguish in this flame.’

The same message could be sent to politcians like Salvini and di Maio. Maybe Salvini will have to ask to send a immigrant todo this…

conclusion

It is a pity the church does not have the courage and never or seldom touch hot issues like referring to example of people of today.

“Those who have ears to hear with, listen.”

Some politicians need to use their ears and maybe also, read and understand.

Jesus were angry about this kind of people.

About the hypocrites, Jesus said according to Luke 6:46

Why do you call me, Lord, Lord,’ and don’t do the things which I say?

Luke 06:39: “Can the blind guide the blind?

Obviously not.
