European passport
I went into a discussion in http://www.forum.rai.it about what is happening in Italy after the so called V-Day and what could be done in Italy. I simply can not avoid to have opinions about this and that. And they ask "Does this Swede understand that Sweden is not like Italy?". Of course "Sweden is not Italy".
I live in Sweden but my heart lives for several reasons in Italy. I grew up in Italy, my German (!) mother lived and died in Italy, I have several Italian friends. I have a long Italian story. :) I am not born in Italy and I choosed, as a 18 year old boy, not to become an Italian citizen. The Italian military service scared me at that time. I don't feel Swedish neither even if I am born here and have two beautiful Swedish children. Who am I then?
So I would say I am a European. As such I find it very difficult to participate in any national political discussion like this Italian one. I easily fall into comparing European countries. I have done that before talking with Suedes like "Look at Belgium", "Look at Italy" etc…
My dream is that Europe would become a one and only European nation and that all citizens had a European passport. I would like to have a European passport and so be able to move freely between Sweden and Italy. And be able to vote for Italian parties, I don't say which one!
Of course, as a European, when I come to Italy I want to feel I am in Italy.
