biocentrism – Do NOT shoot yourself

Fredrik Lanza and Berman are trying to revolutionize the view of ourselves and the world around us with their biocentrism. Biocentrism says that the world around us is a creation of our mind. Universe does not create life. Life creates the Universe.

Before reading biocentrism, I think it is good to have an idea about consciousness. I wrote about this issue some time ago.

Consciousness, Multiverse and Nirvana

Seven principles form the core of biocentrism.

  1. The first principle of biocentrism is based on the premise that what we observe is dependent on the observer, and says that what we  perceive as reality is “a process that involves our consciousness.”
  2. The second and third principles state that “our external and internal perceptions are intertwined”
  3. and that the behavior of particles “is inextricably linked to the presence of an observer,” respectively.
  4. The fourth principle suggests that consciousness must exist and that without it “matter dwells in an undetermined state of probability
  5. The fifth principle points to the structure of the universe itself, and that the laws, forces, and constants of the universe appear to be fine-tuned for life.
  6. Finally, the sixth and seventh principles state that space and time are not objects or things, but rather tools of our animal understanding. Lanza says that we carry space and time around with us “like turtles with shells.”

How to interpret biocentrism?

A bullet doesnt exist?

A stone flying in the direction to your head doesn’ t exist so there is no reason to avoid it?

According to biocentrism the stone you are seing coming to hit your head is a creation of your consciousness. So there is no reason to avoid as it, as it doesn’t exist.

So you can in the same way make harakiri as the knife doesnt exist.

Or you can jump from a sky scaper as the sky scraper doesn’t exist.

Or shoot youself as the gun is and its bullet are just a creation of your mind.

I may over interpret biocentrism. But I can simply not look at a car with a drunk driver coming on my way as a creation of my consciousness as I I know that I with my consciousness will stop to be if I do not move away from that car.

But I can understand that the color of that car may not be blue but green as the color is indeed an interpretation of my mind.

I can understand that most of the stone planned to hit my head, is empty space as the atoms nuclei ocupy a tiny part of it. But the electrons in that stone are those who will damage my heads atoms and molecules.

The illusions are those that count. Like I do not like nightmares I dont want to experience bad illusions as I want to do more before I walk over the chinvat peretum bridge.

Debunking Biocentrism

This video from anonymous pseudonyme “Chocolate hat”, presents a few thoughts about the problems with biocentrism. It is a pity the speeker doesn’t want to appear with his real name as the debunk is well done.

I can accept the dual nature of some particles. But with a biocentric view I get totally confused.

Biocentrism reminds me about our minds not always logic interpretation of reality.

As Daniel Almeida wisely said one year ago in the video comment area “Maybe we need to reconsider our purely materialistic worldview and incorporate basic metaphysical factors that are interdependent with material things.” But as biocentrism is formulated, it goes to far.

Biocentrism like many religions, could even become dangeruous for some psychologially instable and maybe psychotic individuals who  may think, they can do whatever as everything is a creation of consciousness and therefore not real.

And it would not surprise me if some leading people in the name of biocentrism would start arguing that we do not need to put efforts in saving our planet.  Like the Church once and today ISIS fanatics, killed/kill people in the name of believed God.

Whatever we do, we should proove scientifically what consequences our actions have. We know that if we shoot people, their body we shoot, will die and people will suffer. So bullets and weapons ,illusions or not, have destructive effects we do not want.
